The Old Father Faiths
The Old Father faiths are the ancestral religions of the three dwarven peoples. Each venerates the demigod founders of its race, the great heroes and kings of its history, and the Stone Father who created the first dwarven pairs.
They are faiths of memory, lineage, burial, and legitimacy. Dwarven rulers use them to justify restoration projects, sacred wars, and claims to ancient kingdoms.
The Stone Father¶
The eldest tradition honors the Stone Father, creator of the three dwarven pairs in The Emergence. From him descend the demigod founders of the Silver, Gold, and Copper Dwarves.
The Silver Father¶
The ancestral faith of the Silver Dwarves is closely tied to Srrohebrikk, their Hebric tradition. It venerates Htgarth and Ferja as the true heirs of the Stone Father, along with heroes of the Kingdom of Srrorum.
Important figures include:
- Ulffgrdd, "the Wall" - famed for repelling the Zani assault at the Siege of Hlivikkabi in 620 LC, holding the entrance to the Green Valley until Hefdarr's forces arrived.
- Oten, "the Martyr" - fell with the Forrj Guard fighting to the last man against the Zani at the Siege of Saptabi in 619 LC.
- Hefdarr, "the King" - united the Silver Dwarves in time to defend against the Zani invasions.
The Gold Father¶
The ancestral faith of the Gold Dwarves venerates Summsir, Ava, and the heroes of the Azari world.
Important figures include:
- Babur-sin - rose as King of the Azar Gold Dwarves to defend Tiuban amid the collapse that followed the deaths of Summsir and Ava.
- Wadat-ninirta - an ancient Azari trader who established a Grand Bazaar and developed the spice trade.
The Copper Father¶
Current wiki sources preserve less detail for the Copper branch, but Copper Dwarven tradition centers on Frei, Dwadais, Anempanso, and later figures such as Edis the Grim of Qoes.
