Summsir

Summsir, also written Summsîr, was the male figure of the middle dwarven founding pair and the partner of Ava. He is the semi-divine ancestor most closely associated with the Gold Dwarves, their ancient empire, and their Hebric rites.

The Gold Dwarven founder¶

In The Emergence, Summsir and Ava were fashioned by the Stone Father from gold-bearing clay. They emerged from the Gold Caves of Rinekkud, near modern Tiuban, and led their descendants into the Iron Foothills. There they extended the realm remembered as Mâhdad Sho-Tan'Mâat Mâ'Azarî, the Golden Empire of the Azari.

The founders’ reign belonged to the Dwarven Golden Age. It ended when Old Dragkhan armies defeated the Terran Coalition and killed all three founding pairs. After Summsir and Ava died, Babur-sîn rose to defend Tiuban amid the collapse. The founders were returned to the caves of their emergence, in keeping with the wider dwarven account of reunion with the Stone Father.

Cult and political legacy¶

The Gold Dwarves continue to venerate Summsir and Ava through their Hebric tradition. By 21,015 BLC, Makat-sar had become the first appointed Viceroy of Summsir, linking religious authority to the restored Azari kingdom. That honorific remains part of the ambition to restore the Golden Kingdom.

Restoration traditions call for the rebuilding of Etemenazari, renewal of dawn worship and the rites of Summsir, and the return of War Priests to their old position. Summsir consequently represents not only ancestral origin but also the lost unity and sacred kingship of the Azari world.
