The Old Pantheon

241 words·1 min read

The Old Pantheon preserves faded memories of the Primordial creators, kept alive chiefly among the Goblins and worshippers of the Old Dragons. It is a religion of resentment, ancient memory, and names older than most modern faiths.

The Gods

  • Haarus - known to most as Wishtheon, the original creator of the Goblin race. His attempt to create a humanoid people was altered by Mother Earth, producing the first goblins.
  • Kaion - known as Cafea or Mother Earth, the bountiful primordial who sabotaged the Goblins' creation. Goblins hold particular hatred for her, and the feeling is said to be mutual.
  • Daeyr - the Lord of the Wind, ruler of the Old Dragons, who controls both gentle breezes and savage windstorms. His wrath brought ruin to surface-dwellers who defied him.

Memory of the Primordial World

The Old Pantheon remembers the divine world before the current order of organized empires and missionary faiths. For goblins, it explains why they were cast into the caves and why the surface world is hostile. For Old Dragon worshippers, it preserves loyalty to the Sky Empire and the Lord of the Winds.

Legacy

The faith is not merely old; it is oppositional. It gives sacred meaning to peoples who remember themselves as wronged by Mother Earth, the Terran Coalition, or later mortal civilizations.
