Mother Earth

403 words·2 min read

Mother Earth is one of the great Primordial powers of Omniluxia. Alongside the Stone Father, she shaped the early world and became the creator or protector of several mortal races, most importantly the elves, the Zerywani Twins, and the proto-human ancestors of humanity.

Primordial Partner

Mother Earth and the Stone Father fully developed together around 67,000 BLC, during the Mythic Age. Their partnership became the heart of the Terran Coalition, the alliance of earthbound powers that opposed the Lord of the Winds and the Old Dragons during the Great Primordial War.

The two are often remembered together because their creations were complementary: Mother Earth shaped living lands, forests, and peoples, while the Stone Father brought forth the dwarven line and the mountain civilizations.

Creator and Protector

Around 62,000 BLC, Mother Earth created the elven race along with the World's Lungs Forest. Later elven migrations created the Southern and Western Lungs Forests, extending her influence into new regions after the collapse of the earliest elven order.

Mother Earth also intervened in the attempted creation of humanity. When Wishtheon first tried to make humans around 51,000 BLC, she disfigured the result in an attempt to protect her existing children. The beings created by that failed act became the first goblins, who were cast into the caves of the world.

Around 17,000 BLC, Mother Earth created the Zerywani Twins to protect the elves. The twins later tricked her into helping them create proto-humans, hoping to end the Old Dragkhan threat and create children of their own.

Slumber

After the Zerywani Twins used her power in the creation of proto-humans, Mother Earth believed her children were safe and joined the Stone Father in eternal slumber around 16,000 BLC. Her withdrawal marks one of the great transitions from direct Primordial rule to a world shaped by younger gods, mortal heroes, and historical peoples.

Legacy

Mother Earth's legacy is visible in the elves, the World's Lungs Forest, the Zerywani, and the complicated origin of humanity. She is remembered as a creator and guardian, but also as a divine power whose protective interference unintentionally produced the goblins and helped set later history in motion.
