Omniscients

The Omniscients, also called the New Gods, are divine beings who emerged after the decline of the Primordials. They began to appear or take form near the beginning of the Mythic Age, and in the current age most avoid direct worldly affairs, preferring the eternal paradise of their home dimension.

Among them are the Four Great Gods: Wishtheon, Wielkopan, Melodias, and Naathran. Their retreat, the sealing of the Divine Wells, and the rise of Humanity define much of later mythic history.

Nature

Omniscients are unaging immortals and are not limited to mortal forms. They often prefer particular appearances when traveling through Omniluxia, but those forms should not be mistaken for their full nature.

They are gods in power even when mortal traditions disagree over whether to worship, fear, or classify them. Some became creators of races, patrons of peoples, or sources of entire magical traditions.

Society

Most Omniscients spend eternity in a paradise beyond mortal imagination. Their distance from the world is one reason later religions preserve them unevenly: some cultures remember them as gods, others as spirits, and others as dangerous beings sealed away for good reason.

Several remain active or influential. Melodias works through pacts, demonic magic, Goblins, Drow, and other transformed peoples. Wishtheon subtly influenced Zanis. The Zerywani Twins intervened in the creation and evolution of humanity.

History

  • 27 million BLC - Wishtheon, first of the Four Greats, fully develops.
  • 24 million BLC - Wielkopan, second of the Four Greats, fully develops.
  • 22 million BLC - Wishtheon's first attempt at creating humans is disfigured by Mother Earth, producing Goblins, who are cast into the caves.
  • 20 million BLC - Melodias, third of the Four Greats, fully develops.
  • 19 million BLC - Naathran, fourth of the Four Greats, fully develops.
  • 18 million BLC - Mother Earth creates the Zerywani Twins.
  • 5 million BLC - the Zerywani Twins trick Mother Earth into helping create proto-humans.
  • 1 million BLC - the Zerywani Twins intervene and modern humans evolve from proto-humans.
  • 80,000 BLC - the Drow are created by Melodias and remain in the caves.
  • 70,000 BLC - the Hobgoblins are created through Melodias's influence over Elven and Goblin intermixing.
  • 44 LC - Wishtheon subtly encourages Zanis to conquer the west.

Magical Affinity

Omniscients are rated Level 5 in Development Rankings. As gods in all but name, they do not require mortal schools or ordinary magical development. Their magic includes powers unknown to mortal eyes, and some, especially Melodias, actively share fragments of that power with lesser beings.
