Zerywanic

262 words·1 min read

The Zerywanic faith is the pantheon of the Zerywani horse-nomads of the plains. It blends the worship of the great god Wielkopan with older beast-deities of war, death, and nomadic survival.

The Gods

  • Wielkopan - one of the Four Great Gods, associated with the south, creation, knowledge, and the divine history of southeastern Luxterra.
  • Grom - a beast-like deity who feeds on the warring energy of mortals. His worship began in wartime; followers believed that if Grom was fed often enough, he would bestow gifts of war to ease the suffering conflict caused.
  • Neiya - a goddess of death, created directly by Wielkopan around the same time as the Zerywani people themselves, giving her special prominence.

Nomadic Faith

Zerywanic worship reflects the life of horse-nomads: war, movement, death, divine bargains, and reverence for powers that can protect a people who rarely remain still. The faith sits between the cosmic order of the Four Great Gods and the practical needs of steppe clans.

The prominence of Wielkopan also connects the Zerywani to older divine geography. Although he is often associated with gnomes and the Peaceful Valley, Zerywanic tradition remembers him as a major power of southeastern Luxterra.

Legacy

The faith gives religious shape to Zerywani identity. It explains why war and death are treated as sacred forces rather than mere dangers, and why the Zerywani preserve a distinct spiritual world despite contact with Zani, Zainudian, and other neighboring traditions.
