Wielkopan

Wielkopan is one of the Four Great Gods, associated with the south, knowledge, creation, and the fate of the gnomes. He emerged through his Primordial Well around 59,000 BLC.

Southern Great God¶

Wielkopan's emergence belongs to the early Mythic Age, when the last great Primordial structures of the world were still taking shape. Around the same era, the Forest Elves created Weylls, tapestries whose weaves recorded histories, linking his age to memory and knowledge.

The Peaceful Valley¶

Around 21,000 BLC, Wielkopan created the Peaceful Valley and made it a paradise on earth. He used it as the capital of his domain. Around 20,000 BLC he created the gnomes to live alongside him there, in a land known to them as Jaaltuvesk.

After a millennium of divine rule, the gnomes demanded a mortal king. Wielkopan allowed King Skaal Skuuva to rule them, beginning a new phase of gnomish society under mortal kingship.

The Great Sin¶

Around 18,000 BLC, King Skol Skuuva, son of Skaal Skuuva, committed the Great Sin by gazing upon Wielkopan's true form. Enraged, Wielkopan banished the gnomes north and rained fire over Jaaltuvesk.

The future Deep Gnomes escaped into the caverns of the Deep Rift Valley. Around 17,500 BLC, Wielkopan discovered them, cursed them never to see the sun, and left their fate to Melodias.

Legacy¶

Wielkopan is remembered as both creator and judge. He made paradise, created the gnomes, granted them kingship, destroyed their first homeland, and cursed one of their surviving branches. Gnomish history is therefore inseparable from his generosity, wrath, and terrible true form.
