Divine Wells

The Divine Wells are the sealed sources to which the power of three of the Four Great Gods became attached. They belong to Wishtheon, Melodias, and Na’athran, beings described as foreign to the universe of Omniluxia.

The three Wells¶

• Melodias’s Well lies beneath the great hole on the Dissolved Island.
• Wishtheon’s Well lies far below the earth in Kenghasghloish.
• Na’athran’s Well lies in the far east.

Wielkopan is the exception among the Four Great Gods. He is native to Omniluxia, and his power was never attached to a Divine Well.

Sealing of the gods¶

The Omniscients describe the sealing of the Wells as part of the retreat of the great gods and the rise of humanity. By the late Zanic Age, knowledge of the Wells survived in texts old enough to predate the Age of Wonder, but practical access to them was treated as lost or forbidden.

Melodias and the Great Collapse¶

During the Great Northern War, Theolosius the Mad searched those ancient records for a power capable of saving the Northern Empire. Surrounded at Petramonis, he opened Melodias’s Well.

The release destroyed the city and surrounding lands and began the Great Collapse. It also freed Melodias to affect the world again: the Timeline associates her release with the reawakening of the Goblins, renewed Drow power, and the creation of Yedidyhan, the First Vampire. The Incident demonstrates why the Wells were not simply reservoirs of usable mana, but seals containing divine powers capable of reshaping the world.
