Guer

278 words·1 min read

Guer was the human hero of the Party of the Great Heroes who became the legendary founder of the orcish Gotzon tradition. His victory over Onageter redirected orcish history during the Wonder Age.

The Great Heroes

Guer lived in the age when Melodias threatened humanity and the Zerywani Twins sent the Party of the Great Heroes to seal the Primordial Wells. The party's mission was not only magical but political: it had to prevent powerful peoples from endangering the future of the races the Zerywani meant to protect.

In 14,771 BLC, the party came to the Great Nurhagorkan, where orcish expansion threatened future human lands. Guer was chosen to confront the orcish king through the Igeoris.

The Igeoris

Guer challenged King Onageter to the Igeoris, a test of strength centered on climbing Mount Arteth. A charm from the Zerywani Twins allowed Guer to reach the summit. Onageter was incinerated during the attempt, while Guer returned with an obsidian rock and the king's crown.

The orcs accepted Guer as a god-king. Following the instructions of the Zerywani Twins, he taught them to cultivate the inner flame through reflection, isolation, and the smoking of opium. Later orcish tradition remembered him as Gotzon, the Chosen.

Legacy

Guer's victory transformed orcish society. Those who accepted the new faith retreated toward the orcish isles and turned inward; those who refused were banished or defeated by calmer and more disciplined rivals. The story explains both the sacred status of Gotzon and the religious discipline that later shaped orcish politics.
