Dwarven Grandlands

277 words·1 min read

The Dwarven Grandlands are the ancient mountain homeland of the Copper Dwarves. During the Dwarven Golden Age they formed the heartland of Anempanso, the realm founded by Frei and Dwadais.

Golden Age

According to The Emergence, the youngest dwarven pair emerged from the Copper Caves at Bad-Idna, conquered the Grandlands, and ruled the expansive Skyreach realm. Anempanso stood beside the first Kingdom of Srrørum and the Gold Dwarven empire as one of the three great civilizations created by the founding pairs.

The Grandlands were associated with early Copper Dwarven settlement and innovation. The Timeline credits Copper Dwarves with developing Donenforr, a writing system adopted by Gold Dwarves and later by Silver Dwarves.

Collapse and later peoples

The Battle of the Dragon’s Head killed the founding pairs and broke the ancient dwarven kingdoms. Old Dragkhan invasions and subsequent struggles drove dwarven civilization toward fortified mountain centers. Later Goblin, Selaskusian, and Zaraken pressure further divided the Grandlands.

The neighboring Halfling Hills and western Skyreach foothills became home to many Copper Halflings, descendants of Humans and Copper Dwarves. The region’s later history therefore preserved a wider dwarven legacy even outside the surviving Copper Dwarven states.

Modern Skyreach

The strongest modern restoration center is Bad-Furqorin, founded by Edis the Grim where the Skyreach Steppes meet the mountains. Copper Dwarven claims to reunite the Skyreach Passages and restore Anempanso treat control of the Grandlands as both a strategic goal and the recovery of their ancestral homeland.
