The Zainudian World

The Zainudians are the faithful of the god Zain'ud, a people bound by shared revelation but splintered into tribal groups across the east. Their world was shaped by Bachin, Jaoz, the Jaxan Conquests, the Zi'had Kephal, and centuries of conflict with the Zarakens.

Prophetic Origins¶

The Zainudian movement began after Bachin received the First Revelation in 698 LC and Jaoz became his first convert. In 699 LC, the two prophets were driven from major Intermarenican cities and received the Second Revelation in the Dduran Mountains.

In 704 LC they arrived at Makok, cleared the Zaindaxan of idols, received the Third Revelation, and began the Jaxan Conquests. The local population greeted them as foreigners from prophecy who would deliver them from Zaraken and Zani rule.

History¶

After early conquests, the prophets and their successors built the Zi'had Kephal, which later fractured under dynastic crisis. The Zakara Kephal rose from Zaraken power, dominated much of Karksm, and treated non-Zarakens as second-class subjects.

The Great Zinduidian Revolt of 934 LC shattered the unequal and cruel Zakara order. The Zainudian faithful splintered back into older tribal groups that predated the Zi'had Kephal, fiercely hostile toward anyone who would emulate Zakaran Kalifs.

Situation at 1000 LC¶

The Zinduidian tribes squabble among themselves while the emergent Kingdom of Kaffira and the crumbling Jarenamid realm threaten the safety of their holy city. Many look to an independent holy city for guidance, while a warlord dreams of building his capital into a rival.

There remains hope that a true Zinduidian Kalif will unite the Zainudians, treat all believers equally, and destroy heresy as Zain'ud commanded the prophets:

"Spread my word to the ends of this world, and tell the devoted to come and pray to me at this altar." - The Second Revelation (Dacanan)
