Jaoz the Bold

Jaoz the Bold was a noble of Dui-Ttaushu, a warrior and tactician, and one of the two founding prophets of Zainudianism. He became Bachin's first convert in 698 LC and helped turn Bachin's revelations into a conquering religious movement.

First Convert¶

Jaoz met Bachin after the First Revelation, when Bachin descended from the mountains near Dui-Ttaushu preaching the word of Zain'ud. The meeting took place during the unsettled years after the Great Collapse, when the Razani and Nazani states were weakened, border peoples were declaring independence, and the Zarakens were invading Zinduidian lands.

Jaoz's conversion gave Bachin more than a disciple. As a trained noble warrior, he brought military ability, local legitimacy, and a practical partner for carrying the new faith beyond private revelation.

Revelations and Conquests¶

In 699 LC, Bachin and Jaoz were driven away from major Intermarenican cities by mostly Helluvian populations. They eventually reached the Dduran Mountains near Ddu-Nuinop, where they received the Second Revelation and turned south toward the Zinduidians.

In 704 LC, the Zainudians arrived at Makok. Local pagans greeted them as foreigners from prophecy who would deliver them from Zaraken and Zani rule. Bachin and Jaoz cleared the Zaindaxan of idols, prayed there, and received the Third Revelation. The Jaxan Conquests began soon after, with the Zinduidians attacking the weakened Zarakens under the prophets' leadership.

Death and Tomb¶

Jaoz fell ill while crushing a Zakaren revolt and died in 726 LC at the age of 54. He was buried at Kyaxares. In 946 LC, after Kyaxares fell to coalition forces and much of the royal Zakara family was slaughtered, the Tomb of Jaoz was carried to Makok.

His moved tomb became a powerful Zainudian monument, linking the faith's prophetic origins to later struggles over Karksm, Kyaxares, and Makok.
