Bachin, Lord of Dui-Pattar

Bachin, Lord of Dui-Pattar was a philosopher-prince and one of the two founding prophets of Zainudianism. Born in 662 LC, he rejected princely luxury in 697 LC and climbed into the mountains seeking an answer to the suffering of the world.

Search for Revelation¶

Bachin lived through the generation after the Great Collapse, when the old Zani world was broken and successor states struggled to hold their borders. In 697 LC, as the Zarakens invaded Zinduidian lands and the Razani lost control over several frontier regions, Bachin abandoned his life as Lord of Dui-Pattar and went into the mountains.

In 698 LC he received the First Revelation atop a mountain near Dui-Ttaushu. Soon after, he met Jaoz the Bold, who became the first convert to Zainudianism and his closest companion.

Prophet and Conqueror¶

In 699 LC, Bachin and Jaoz were chased out of major Intermarenican cities by mostly Helluvian populations. They reached the Dduran Mountains near Ddu-Nuinop, received the Second Revelation, and decided to travel south with their followers to the Zinduidians.

The Zainudians arrived at Makok in 704 LC. There they were greeted by pagan populations as prophetic foreigners who would deliver them from Zaraken and Zani rule. Bachin and Jaoz cleared the Zaindaxan of idols, prayed there, received the Third Revelation, and began the Jaxan Conquests against the weakened Zarakens.

By 710 LC, the Zinduidians had conquered to the edges of Bhaxnmrechtem and made peace with the Razani in exchange for yearly tribute. Bachin's religious movement had become a state-building force.

Writings and Death¶

Bachin wrote the Uphin, the central collection of Zain'ud's teachings. After Jaoz died in 726 LC while suppressing a Zakaren revolt, Bachin wrote The Musings in mourning. The work became important for its theological, legal, and political insight.

Bachin died in 729 LC at the age of 67 and was buried at Nunahnu. Later Zainudian traditions remembered him as both a revealer of divine truth and a lawgiver whose faith changed the balance of power in southern Luxterra.
