The Kaffira Kingdom is an emergent Dunydurceg monarchy in the Iron Foothills, founded by the Kaffarians who broke away from Jarenam's conquests and carved out their own eastern realm. It is one of the most dangerous rising powers near the Zainudian world and the restored Gold Dwarven states.

Founding

The kingdom traces its origin to the upheaval created by Jarenam the Formidable. In 980 LC, the Kaffarians under Kaffar the Cruel detached from the main Jarenamid force and moved east, conquering the lands that would become the Kaffarian Kingdom.

That break made Kaffira more than a borderland offshoot. It became a new power on the outskirts of civilization, where a Draconic people rapidly adapted to local ways in order to survive the harsh desert environment.

Faith and Identity

Kaffira is one of the strongest states among the followers of Zain'ud. Its own heritage traditions present the kingdom as a union of two peoples who together formed the Kaffarian culture, with a destiny to unite the true believers and expand the reach of the divine against heresies.

This makes Kaffira a threat in both political and religious terms. To the west, the divided Zainudian World fears both the crumbling Jarenam Empire and the emergent Kaffira Kingdom. To the east and north, smaller states watch the kingdom's expansion with unease.

Main Cities and Military

Kaffira's capital is Akge, a city in the Iron Foothills. Its lands also include the rare spice city famed for Kaffarian Peppercorn, a mouth-numbing pepper valued by wealthy gourmands and protected by the region's rugged geography.

In game terms, Kaffira begins as a despotic monarchy with a warmongering diplomatic stance. Its levy profile comes from the Dragkhanic-Jarenamid military tradition: broad infantry levies, meaningful archer support, and mobile cavalry arms suited to a kingdom that grew out of conquest and borderland adaptation.

Place in 1000 LC

By 1000 LC, Kaffira has taken advantage of Azar decline and expanded into the Iron Foothills at the expense of the Gold Dwarves. It stands near the holy tensions of the Zainudian world, the ambitions of the Zarakens, and the recovering dwarven powers that still dream of restoring their old greatness.

Campaign Profile

Kaffira Kingdom begins in Akge as a Despotic Monarchy state led by a Kaffarian political core and professing Zainuddian. Its opening position is best understood through the people, ruler, land, and institutions recorded in the game files.

Starting Ruler

No set_as_ruler character is present for this tag in the authored setup files. Accordingly, no ruler is named here: the campaign supplies the officeholder through game setup rather than fixed lore.

Peoples and Cultural World

Kaffarian belongs to the Jazari Dunydurceg culture group, alongside Jazari. The culture definition uses the Kharesmian ethnicity set for character appearance. Across the realm's starting provinces, population-weighted provincial culture is recorded as Kaffarian (69%), Kogikki (16%), Pampugkian (14%). Provincial culture is a broad administrative label rather than a census of every household, but it provides firmer evidence than assuming the entire country matches its court.

Religion in the Realm

The state faith is Zainuddian. Starting provinces are recorded as Zainudian (100%). Game localization describes it this way: “Originally viewed as a heresy of the Helluvian faith, the Zainudians claim that the true god Zain'ud revealed himself to two prophets, Jaoz the Bold and Bachin, Lord of Dui-Pattar, who abandoned their former lives of opulence and wealth in the northern cities to preach his word to the Helluvians. Prosecuted by those they sought to save, the prophets were told to go south and find the Zinduidian tribes, who would help expand the faith's influence across Southwestern Luxterra like wildfire, with many Jaxan, or Holy Defensive, Wars declared against those…”

Land, Settlements, and Livelihood

At the 1000 LC start it controls 17 provinces, making it a substantial middle power. From Akge, its government must turn a meaningful territorial base into durable regional influence. Province count measures the opening political footprint, not the number or worth of its people. The starting provinces contain 3 cities or metropolises. Their population-weighted terrain is hills (32%), mountain (23%), desert (23%), and plains (22%); their leading trade goods are iron (21%), marble (16%), spices (13%), base metals (13%), wood (6%), and horses (5%). These records give the country's culture a material setting without inventing unsupported customs.

Government and Army

Its Despotic Monarchy locates formal power in a crown and dynasty. The title is therefore more than flavor: succession and the standing of the ruling house are central to the realm's continuity.

The levy is built chiefly around light infantry (36%), supported by archers (27%), horse archers (18%), light cavalry (18%). This is a statement about the forces available at the campaign opening, not a claim that every inhabitant shares a single martial way of life.

The army profile should be read together with the terrain and economy above: it shows what the state can raise in 1000 LC, while the province records show the communities and resources supporting that force.

Realm at a Glance

Kaffira Kingdom enters the 1000 LC world from Akge, with a Kaffarian political core and Zainuddian as its recorded faith. Those labels connect the state to the wider cultural record history and to Zainudian tradition; they describe the court and starting state, not a claim that every subject has the same ancestry, language, or belief.

People and Belief

Primary culture and state faith show which traditions possess official standing at the campaign opening. They also provide the safest canon-grounded starting point for understanding daily identity: Kaffarian institutions shape the realm's public face, while Zainuddian supplies its formal religious vocabulary. Border communities, minorities, and local practice may be more varied than those state labels can show; see Cultures and Races for the distinction between culture and ancestry.

Ways of War

The levy is built chiefly around light infantry (36%), supported by archers (27%), horse archers (18%), light cavalry (18%). This is a statement about the forces available at the campaign opening, not a claim that every inhabitant shares a single martial way of life.

Together, the capital, territorial footprint, political form, and levy make Kaffira Kingdom more than a colored patch on the atlas: they define the problems its rulers face and the resources with which its people meet them.
