Austropetolia is the archipelagic continent of the Snake Isles and Bloody Isles. It is home to the shattered heirs of the Ular-Pria Empire, the half-serpent Austropetolians or Naga, Sea Elven and serpentine memories of the Great Collapse, and the Orcish homelands of Rendun and Remun.

The Archipelagic Continent

Austropetolia is not a single compact landmass. It is a continent of islands, sea lanes, cave systems, sugarcane estates, diamond wealth, silk, mercenary bands, and rival coastal cities. The Regions page identifies it with the Snake Isles and Bloody Isles, while Ular-Pria lore places the old Snakefolk world at the center of its history.

This geography makes Austropetolia maritime by nature. Whoever controls ships, straits, caves, and island markets can dominate more than soil; they can control movement between continents.

Ular-Pria Legacy

The Ular-Pria are the Snakefolk heirs of the old Ular-Pria Empire. Before the Great Collapse, their imperial order was powerful enough that its fall still defines the archipelago. After 670 LC, tsunamis and hurricanes destroyed much of the old serpentine world and reduced imperial unity to competing survivors.

The two clearest post-Collapse powers are Mignadg and the Euryalid Kingdom on Kraklaz. Their brutal War of the Snakes became one of the defining conflicts of Austropetolian memory. Many Ular-Pria rulers still seek lost supremacy, prophetic reunification, or restoration of an empire that the sea itself helped break.

Naga Between Worlds

The Austropetolians, known among themselves as the Naga, are half-serpent descendants of human slaves of the former Ular-Pria Empire. Their identity captures the human cost of Snakefolk power.

Naga communities are rejected by many humans because of their serpentine bodies and looked down upon by many serpentine peoples because of their human ancestry. This has made them insular, defensive, and martial. Austropetolia is therefore not only a Snakefolk land; it is also a land of mixed peoples who survive between empire and prejudice.

The Great Collapse at Sea

The Great Collapse struck Austropetolia with unusual force. The Incident brought tsunamis and hurricanes through the Central Omniluxian Sea, submerging and devastating Ular-Pria and Sea Elven societies.

This disaster changed the political meaning of the ocean. The sea that once joined an empire also shattered it. Austropetolia's later history should be read as post-catastrophe politics: fragments trying to profit, reunify, raid, or simply endure among drowned ruins and dangerous routes.

The Bloody Isles and Orcish Homelands

The Bloody Isles contain the Orcish homelands of Rendun and Remun, ruled by the Great Families of the Nurhanuoragias. This links Austropetolia to Orc history as well as to Snakefolk and Naga lore.

Orcish history elsewhere includes migration, exile, colonization, and mainland conflict, especially in Morrigon and the Borderlands. Austropetolia preserves the homeland side of that story.

Magic, Trade, and Secret Societies

Ular-Pria magical development is uneven. Current development notes rate them at Level 3 in Development Rankings, with low natural mana stores compared to many peoples, but secretive magical communities still exist. Magicians often serve kings or chiefs as soothsayers or displays of power, while independent schools operate across islands.

Trade is just as important as magic. Diamonds from deep caves, sugarcane latifundia, silk, and Nagarajian mercenaries give Austropetolian cities reasons to compete even when foreign merchants fear them.
