Arteon is the Island of Eternal War, a continent-scale island west of the old imperial centers and near Eptelon and Austropetolia. It is best understood as a violent meeting ground: native Arteonian powers, High Elven colonies, Half-Elven societies, Aralan militarists, mountain houses, mercenary princes, and hidden vampire traditions all struggle over the same scarred land.

The Island of Eternal War

Arteon's epithet is not ornamental. The Regions overview describes it as ravaged by centuries of High Elven invasion, native strife, and half-Elven power struggles. The island's political culture therefore tends toward fortress rule, local autonomy, hardened warrior classes, and old grudges that outlive individual dynasties.

The High Elves brought colonial citadels, slavery, and extraction. Native powers answered with resistance and rival strategies of survival. Mixed communities emerged wherever occupation, alliance, coercion, and intermarriage blurred the lines between conqueror and conquered.

High Elven Invasions

High Elves came from a distant continent and became one of Omniluxia's most important colonizing and slaving powers. Their invasions shaped Arteon, Eptelon, Horteon, and the wider Melodian continents.

On Arteon, High Elven power should be read through three linked structures:

  • Citadels - fortified colonial seats that extract labor, tribute, and obedience.
  • Slaver networks - the violent human machinery that supported High Elven expansion.
  • Long memory - High Elven lifespans allow imperial grudges and legal claims to survive far longer than human kingdoms usually endure.

The High Elven Civil War and the post-Collapse High Elven Peace weakened expansion, but they did not erase colonial structures. Arteon remains a place where a pause in conquest can still leave domination behind.

Aralans and Half-Elven Power

Arteon is strongly associated with the Aralans, also called Alu-sarian half-elves in High Elven contexts. Current Aralan lore places many Aralans in southern Rohenevia, but their broader identity belongs to the same frontier world of High Elven pressure, mixed ancestry, and militarized autonomy that defines Arteon.

Aralan society is built around princes who rule locally, train boys for war, and resist both outsiders and overcentralized kings. That makes them natural actors in Arteonian politics: strong in battle, difficult to unify, and dangerous for any empire that assumes a single victory can settle the island.

The Unholy Pact

The Regions page links Arteon to the Unholy Pact of Arteon, while the Countries overview notes that northern mountain houses hide a secret vampire pact. In continental terms, this gives Arteon a second kind of danger beneath the visible wars.

The island's wars are fought by armies, citadels, princes, and raiders; its deeper politics are also shaped by secrecy, blood, and supernatural bargains. This makes Vampires and other hidden powers especially plausible forces in Arteon's mountain hinterlands.

Neighbors and Sea Lanes

Arteon sits near Eptelon and the Austropetolian Archipelago. That position exposes it to raiding, slaving, trade, and refugee movement. Eptelonian peoples have been pushed inward by Arteonian raiders as well as High Elves and Ular-Pria slavers, so Arteon's violence radiates beyond its own coast.

The island also participates in a larger western oceanic world that includes the Snake Isles, Bloody Isles, Melodian routes, and High Elven colonial traffic.

Game-Relevant Connections

Arteon is most relevant to players as a continent of fractured power and inherited war. Its likely storylines connect:
