Melodian
Melodian magic is the style most directly associated with the goddess Melodias. Its techniques channel demonic power through a caster’s mana and commonly require a sacrifice, injury, or pact. This cost gives Melodian traditions both their strength and their feared reputation.
Necromancers¶
Necromancers use curses, stolen vitality, and summoned servants. Curse inflicts illness, while its stronger forms place a lasting skull curse upon an enemy. Hex drains health from a target and transfers it to the caster. Necromancers can also summon Warborn or raise a Warborn population, turning Melodian power toward armies and labor.
Warlocks¶
Warlocks exchange suffering for direct martial power. Rage grants temporary fighting ability, while Dark Offering injures or kills another character to strengthen the caster. Other techniques attack soldiers, reduce enemy morale, or afflict opponents with terrifying visions.
Blood curses¶
The Palpan Blood Curse tradition specializes in permanent harm purchased with the caster’s own health. Blood Curse injures its user while placing a lasting health penalty upon an enemy. It embodies the sacrificial logic found throughout Melodian practice.
Melodias and the world¶
Melodian magic cannot be separated from the history of its divine source. When Theolosius the Mad opened Melodias’s Divine Well, the release destroyed Petramonis and began the Great Collapse. The same event reconnected Melodias with forces and peoples she had influenced in earlier ages.
