Half Elves
Half Elves are the children of elves and humans. They inherit traits from both lineages and often become cultural bridges between communities that otherwise distrust one another.
Biology¶
Half Elves generally live longer than humans and are known for cunning, adaptability, and openness to innovation. Their exact appearance and lifespan vary depending on the elven parentage involved: High Elf, Forest Elf, Sea Elf, or other elven branches.
Society¶
Because they are not numerous, most Half Elves adopt the culture of either their human or elven parent. Others form distinct societies when enough mixed communities gather in one place. Known examples include the Dinaril of Vetalia, the Alu-sarians of Arteon, and the Werhenssians of Luxterra.
The Alu-sarians were born from the union of fleeing pacifist Alusian High Elves and the highland Sarian tribes. Xenophobic High Elves deride them as Emra, showing how Half Elven communities can become symbols of impurity or compromise to more rigid parent cultures.
Historical Role¶
The timeline records the first western Half Elven communities emerging in 708 LC, when escaped elven slaves created the Rishildiar Confederation in Vetalia and began cultivating Yaga trees. This places Half Elven identity within the wider post-Collapse age of migration, refuge, and new hybrid societies.
Half Elves are therefore not merely biological intermediates. They often appear where empire, slavery, exile, or frontier contact has forced humans and elves into shared histories.
