Baetepian

The Baetepian faith is the ancient polytheistic religion of Baetep, organized around generations of gods and the ruling Order of Khetet.

The Order of Khetet¶

The Order of Khetet is composed exclusively of the first three generations of the gods of Baetep:

• Atepr - once the God of Gods and King of All, warned by a prophecy of a fourth generation of gods so powerful that even he could not stop their rise.
• Dekh-Sedjet - god of wisdom and knowledge, advisor to Atepr, who mediates the fights of the gods and watches over the Children of Mi.
• Shetop - the Lioness Goddess, a goddess of lions known for her ruthless discipline.

The Faithful¶

The Baetepian gods once liberated the Baetepians from foreign rule and helped build the greatest empire in Luxterra. Their worship was suppressed first by the Zani and then by the Sertem, but the True Pharon of the Kingdom of Dune still upholds the worship of the native gods against the false god Zanis.

Zanis conquered Baetep in 58 LC and placed the Sertem family in charge of its administration. Loyalists smuggled the Pomegranate Throne away to the Old Kingdom of Dune, turning the throne into a lasting symbol of native legitimacy against Zanic and Sertemic rule.
