Viktreic (The Victory Pantheon)

245 words·1 min read

The Viktreic faith centers on the Goddess of Victory, the traditionally Esquelian interpretation of a deity of resistance, endurance, and survival against superior enemies. She first revealed herself after the Esquelian conquest by the Zani, becoming a symbol of defiance against oppressors.

Origins

The Victory Goddess also appears in deep human myth. Around 15,000 BLC, the Zerywani Twins created her to help humanity destroy the Old Dragkhans. In Arteonian tradition, she later aided Artheous in killing the Wyrms and making Arteonian civilization possible.

This older role helps explain why the Esquelians could reinterpret her as a goddess of resistance. She is not victory as simple conquest, but victory as survival when a people faces extinction, enslavement, or cultural erasure.

Aspects of Victory

The goddess is worshipped through aspects, each representing a form of victory essential to the Esquelian people:

  • Vike - victory over invading enemies, the symbol of resistance against conquerors.
  • Vale - cultural victory, the resilience of the Esquelians in keeping their people and traditions alive under foreign rule.
  • Vona - victory over nature, the constant struggle to survive the harsh hills and forests of Central Bhaxnmrechtem.

Legacy

Viktreic worship gives conquered and pressured peoples a language for endurance. It links Esquelian anti-imperial memory to older divine stories of humans, Artheous, and the survival of mortal races against monsters.
