Yedidyhan
The Yedidyhan faith is a dark religion centered on the vampire-god Yedidyhan, the Dark Lord of the Vampires, and practiced by Yedizi faithful among the related Yedidyah peoples. Its few but devoted adherents seek the Eternal Night, which they believe will free their god.
The Dark Lord¶
Yedidyhan is said to have emerged from the hills of Yehya after Melodias was released during the Great Collapse. The timeline records that Melodias brought life to Yedidyhan, the First Vampire, when the Incident shattered the old world in 670 LC.
After his emergence, Yedidyhan wandered the hills for decades, feeding on the unfortunate souls who crossed his path and creating the first pureblood Yedidyah Vampires. After two centuries he disappeared. His followers continue to search for him, interpreting his absence as captivity or exile that the Eternal Night will finally end.
Faith and Fear¶
Yedidyhan worship is inseparable from vampiric descent. To followers, the Dark Lord is a source of origin, power, and identity. To outsiders, he represents one of the horrors unleashed when Melodias's prison was opened at Petramonis.
The faith is therefore part religion, part lineage cult, and part post-Collapse terror. Its adherents preserve the memory of a being who was not merely born after the catastrophe, but animated by it. The cult praises cruelty and charisma as reflections of its god, while its secrecy and selective induction leave outsiders with rumor as often as fact.
Not every member of the wider Yedidyah culture group is necessarily a vampire. Virfigoriaa, for example, is a Wedidyah-led kingdom with Yedidyhan as its state faith; its intimate connection to vampire worship does not by itself make every subject undead.
Legacy¶
Yedidyhan's story connects vampires to the same chain of events that reawakened goblins, empowered drow, destroyed Petramonis, and split Omniluxia. He is one of the clearest examples of the Great Collapse creating new supernatural powers rather than only destroying old ones.
