Sakhir Totrazi

Sakhir Totrazi was the Qhagan who brought the House of Totrazi to power after the death of Jarenam the Formidable. His accession in 998 LC briefly gave the shattered Jarenamid realm a ruling house, but it did not resolve the empire's deeper crisis.

The Succession Crisis¶

Jarenam died of illness in 993 LC without naming a successor. His death created a struggle among generals, nobles, pretenders, and subject peoples over who would inherit the Jarenam Empire. Many conquered territories broke away, including the Phanicians and Baetepians, while the weakened Razani Empire lacked the strength to reconquer them.

By 998 LC, the House of Totrazi managed to seize control under Sakhir Totrazi. The title of Qhagan gave him formal authority, but the empire remained full of rival commanders and peoples who had no reason to accept a new dynasty quietly.

Rule of the House of Totrazi¶

Sakhir's rule should be understood as a contested restoration rather than a clean succession. He inherited Jarenam's conquests without Jarenam's personal authority. Generals, pretenders, and conquered peoples all remained hostile, leaving the realm unstable even after a ruling house had emerged.

This instability shaped the world immediately before the Age of Invasions. The Jarenamid successor realm survived, but its political center was brittle, and its borders depended on coercion more than settled legitimacy.

Legacy¶

Sakhir Totrazi represents the first attempt to turn Jarenam's personal empire into a dynastic state. His success was partial: the House of Totrazi gained power, but the empire he inherited was still fractured by rebellion, succession claims, and resentment among the conquered.
