Wraiths

236 words·1 min read

Wraiths are semi-human creatures shaped by the dark corruption of the void. Their origin is tied to the Great Collapse, when parts of the world were broken, drowned, or cast into impossible depths.

Origin

After the Great Collapse, the ancestors of the Wraiths were cast into the chasm. There they festered for hundreds of years under void corruption, losing ordinary human nature and developing otherworldly traits.

This makes Wraiths one of the peoples whose existence is best understood as a consequence of the Incident. Like the reawakened goblins, empowered drow, and vampires brought forth by Melodias, Wraiths belong to the darker ecology of the post-Collapse world.

Biology

Wraith corruption is violently transformative. Anywhere they go, anything they gaze upon, and anyone they touch turns black. The mere sight of a Wraith can kill most people, as darkness consumes the soul before the victim has a chance to look away.

Because of this, Wraiths are not simply dangerous in battle. Their presence alters places, bodies, and spirits, making ordinary coexistence nearly impossible.

Society

Current wiki sources preserve little about Wraith social organization. Given their corruptive nature, they are best understood as isolated or feared beings rather than a conventional nation. Future expansion should look for event, province, or localization references before adding political structures.
