Razani and Nazani Family Histories
Working draft for playable deceased ancestry in Imperator. The aim is that a player can open the living Razani or Nazani ruler, follow deceased parents backward through the imperial houses, pass through the 671 LC split, and ultimately reach Zanis Zani "the Great".
Dates are LC. People marked canon are named in the wiki timeline, country pages, or current character setup. People marked bridge are invented to fill plausible dynastic gaps.
Shared Zani Ancestry¶
This shared trunk should exist once, then branch into the eastern Razani and western Nazani lines. The main line is kept deliberately broad: it gives the game a readable ancestry without pretending we have every emperor between Zanis and the Crisis of the 7th Century.
| Generation | Character | Life | Role | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Zanis Zani "the Great" | 20-97 | First Emperor | Canon. Founder of the Zani Empire. Martial and zeal should be exceptional; give zani. |
| 2 | Unnopun Zani "the Far-Marching" | 56-124 | Emperor | Canon son named in 89 LC. Conqueror of Bhanmrexcthem; stern frontier ruler. |
| 3 | O-Zanun Zani "the Settler" | 86-151 | Emperor | Bridge. Consolidated Geallian colonies planted by Zanis and Unnopun. |

| 15 | Tzunnobes Zani "the Full-Handed" | 504-571 | Emperor | Bridge. Wealthy, complacent, provincial aristocracy grows fat under him. |
| 16 | Zezun Zani "the Unready" | 538-604 | Emperor | Bridge. Zezani line founded in 581; imperial court starts fragmenting. |
| 17 | O-Zzunnes Zani "the Fading Sun" | 572-637 | Emperor | Bridge. Last comfortable pre-collapse emperor. |
| 18 | Zzunnon Zani "the Northern Hammer" | 607-670 | Emperor | Canon. Began the Great Northern War in 652; died in the Incident with his appointed heir. |
| 18b | Pzenne Razani "the Uncle" | 617-682 | Eastern emperor | Canon. Younger brother or close agnatic kinsman of Zzunnon; gives the direct Razani line a clean route back to Zanis. |
| 19E | O-Dzunn Razani "the Council's Emperor" | 641-672 | Eastern claimant | Canon. Declared emperor in Durobaeste in 670, puppet of the Imperial Council, assassinated; important named kinsman, but not the direct ancestor of Rhuzemes in this draft. |
| 19W | O-Bunn Nazani "the Sea-Cut" | 638-678 | Western claimant | Canon. Declared emperor in Bharamuntacho Zani in 671; killed and eaten by goblins at Rantatotum. |
Razani Branch¶
The Razani line begins as the eastern, council-backed imperial line in 670-671 LC, then becomes formally distinct in 690 under Rozunse Razani. This version makes the 1000 LC ruler Rhuzemes Razani a direct descendant of Rozunse and, through him, Pzenne and Zanis. O-Dzunn is still included as a canon branch figure because he begins the eastern claim, but the direct click-through parent chain should pass through Pzenne.
| Generation | Character | Life | Role | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| R0 | O-Dzunn Razani "the Council's Emperor" | 641-672 | Emperor of the Zani in Durobaeste | Canon. Starts the eastern claim but is a collateral kinsman in this implementation. |
| R1 | Pzenne Razani "the Uncle" | 617-682 | Emperor of the Zani | Canon. O-Dzunn's uncle; direct ancestor of the later Razani line. |
| R2 | O-Punnzen Razani "the Western Shield" | 644-687 | Rebel emperor and general | Canon. Put down Werhenlander revolt, later declared emperor in Vevehlen. Make him Pzenne's son. |
| R3 | Rozunse Razani "the Avenger" | 668-726 | First Emperor of the Razani | Canon. Son of O-Punnzen; purged the Imperial Council after O-punnz's murder in 690. High martial/charisma, harsh and ambitious. |
| R4 | Ozzepun Razani "the Red-Robed" | 695-758 | Emperor | Bridge. Stabilized the new Razani court after the split; resented by old council families. |
| R5 | Tzunnoz Razani "the Taxer" | 724-789 | Emperor | Bridge. Rebuilt revenues after losses to Zinduidians and breakaway clients. |
| R6 | Brenzun Razani "the Wall-Maker" | 754-823 | Emperor | Bridge. Associated with defensive works and the Theon System's early shape. |
| R7 | Punnzun Razani "the Ashen" | 783-846 | Emperor | Bridge. Reign scarred by the Great Helluvian Uprising and Intermarenican unrest. |
| R8 | Ozpunnz I Razani "the Cautious" | 813-878 | Emperor | Bridge. Consolidator after repeated frontier losses. |
| R9 | Rhazun Razani "the Old Fox" | 844-909 | Emperor | Bridge. Diplomatic, suspicious, left succession messy. |
| R10 | Ozpunnz II Razani "the Thematic" | 873-939 | Emperor | Canon name from 929 LC. Implemented THEME reforms; high finesse, high zeal. |
| R11 | Zorhuzes Razani "the Mourner" | 894-963 | Emperor or heir | Bridge. Father of Rhuzemes; lived through escalating Yarenamian reliance and court decay. |
| R12 | Rhuzemes Razani "the Victorious" | 918- | Emperor at 1000 LC | Canon current ruler. Existing setup has no parents; should receive father Zorhuzes and a deceased mother. |
Suggested Razani consorts to include:
| Character | Life | Marriage | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| O-Praunza Razani | 646-704 | O-Dzunn | Bridge mother figure for continuity; imperial cousin. |
| Tzannia Buzani "the Black Pearl" | 674-737 | Rozunse | Bridge. Cadet-house marriage after the purge; gives the dynasty a crisis-of-the-third-century political flavor. |
| Euphonara Pozani | 701-771 | Ozzepun | Bridge. Learned, cautious, palace patron. |
| Vezennia Uzani "the Stern" | 731-800 | Tzunnoz | Bridge. High zeal; remembered for anti-Helluvian crackdowns. |
| O-Phania Yozuzani | 792-861 | Punnzun | Bridge. Connects later cadet houses without changing the direct line. |
| Kassandra Razani "the Younger" | 888-956 | Zorhuzes | Bridge. Mother of Rhuzemes; give finesse/zeal, grieving or cautious traits if implemented. |
Nazani Branch¶
The Nazani line begins as O-Bunn's western claim in 671, suffers its first disaster in 678, and then becomes durable through Obsrubtu's marriage into the Nazani line in 690. Because the current setup already gives a near-start line of Leon -> Aleksios -> Martios and a cousin branch through Andronikos -> Renos, this draft preserves those relationships exactly.
| Generation | Character | Life | Role | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| N1 | O-Bunn Nazani "the Western Claimant" | 638-678 | Emperor of the Zani in Bharamuntacho Zani | Canon. Declared in 671; killed at Rantatotum. |
| N2 | Obsrubtu Nazani "the Survivor" | 659-724 | Emperor of the Zani in the West | Canon. O-punnz's subordinate; marries into the Nazani line in 690 and claims the throne. For game genealogy, make his wife O-Bunn's daughter and the dynastic parent of the next ruler. |
| N3 | Basilakios Nazani "the Bastion" | 692-761 | Emperor | Bridge. Son of Obsrubtu and O-Bunn's daughter; rebuilds Bharamuntacho Zani after goblinic devastation. |
| N4 | Theodosios Nazani "the Lantern" | 721-789 | Emperor | Bridge. Patron of cities and farmland; high finesse/zeal. |
| N5 | Nikephoros Nazani "the Marsh-Binder" | 751-819 | Emperor | Bridge. Repeatedly pacifies Marshlands, never permanently. |
| N6 | Anastasios Nazani "the Veiled" | 781-846 | Emperor | Bridge. Spymaster-emperor, funds border proxies. |
| N7 | Maurikios Nazani "the Patient" | 812-879 | Emperor | Bridge. Consolidates after losing Kainaxarthos and repeated Borderlands trouble. |
| N8 | Leon Nazani "the Grave" | 899-959 | Emperor or senior dynast | Canon setup character 188. Existing fatherless ancestor; should receive Maurikios as father. |
| N9 | Aleksios Nazani "the Wise" | 929-994 | Emperor | Canon setup character 190. Son of Leon and Eupraxia; dies mysteriously in 994. |
| N10 | Martios I Nazani | 974- | Emperor at 1000 LC | Canon current ruler. Son of Aleksios and Theodora; existing setup already links them. |
Nazani cousin branch already in setup:
| Generation | Character | Life | Role | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| N9b | Andronikos Nazani | 936-987 | Prince/general | Canon setup character 192. Son of Leon and Eupraxia, brother of Aleksios. |
| N10b | Renos Nazani | 968- | General and claimant favorite | Canon setup character 185. Son of Andronikos and Helena; cousin of Martios. |
Suggested Nazani consorts to include:
| Character | Life | Marriage | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| O-Punnia Nazani "the Last Daughter" | 662-731 | Obsrubtu | Bridge. Daughter of O-Bunn; makes Obsrubtu's claim dynastic rather than purely military. |
| Eirene Weagelia "the Dove" | 700-770 | Basilakios | Bridge. Native Weagelian noble, helps western legitimacy. |
| Pulcheria Nazani "the Iron Psalm" | 728-801 | Theodosios | Bridge. Pious and severe; anti-magic memory after 701 ban. |
| Zenobia Fideli "the Green-Eyed" | 759-828 | Nikephoros | Bridge. Border aristocrat; charisma/finesse. |
| Aelia Ularia "the Sea-Lily" | 789-858 | Anastasios | Bridge. Ularian connection, useful for WGA multicultural court. |
| Eupraxia Nazani | 904-967 | Leon | Canon setup character 189. Mother of Aleksios and Andronikos. |
| Theodora Nazani | 934-991 | Aleksios | Canon setup character 191. Mother of Martios. |
| Helena Nazani | 940-992 | Andronikos | Canon setup character 193. Mother of Renos. |
Implementation Notes¶
- The ancestry should probably be created in country scopes where the current playable character lives: Razani ancestors in
00_EGA.txt, Nazani ancestors in00_WGA.txt. - Shared pre-split Zani ancestors can live in
EGAor a neutral/canonical Zani tag if the mod has one. If cross-country parent links are safe, either branch can point to the samechar:IDs. - Existing WGA relationships should be preserved: Leon and Eupraxia are parents of Aleksios and Andronikos; Aleksios and Theodora are parents of Martios; Andronikos and Helena are parents of Renos.
- Rhuzemes currently has no parents in
00_EGA.txt; the first game-file pass should add Zorhuzes and Kassandra as deceased parents, then continue the chain backward. - Use
zanion shared trunk and Razani rulers where appropriate; useblood_of_nazanion post-split Nazani rulers. The exact bloodline trait mix should be checked in-game so we do not stack unintended bonuses through every ancestor. - Stats should tell a story across eras: Zanis and Unnopun martial/zeal monsters; Ozesu and Ozpunnz II finesse reformers; Rozunse and Obsrubtu charismatic crisis rulers; late Razani increasingly stressed and uneven; late Nazani competent but cautious until Martios.
